The great diffusion of masonry arch bridges, sometimes historical interest, requires the development simple but effective methodologies for a preliminary reliable evaluation their static and seismic capacity. In this paper, behaviour under longitudinal actions is analysed by using mechanism method. supposed to have no tension strength rigid–perfect plastic with finite in compression. subject permanent loads horizontal acceleration acting direction, which causes inertial loading on arch. Three hypotheses about effects backfill are considered, correspond three different real behaviours.
